How it all startedFrom the moment when I first played Little Big Adventure I became big fan of game. Little Big Adventure 2 just grounded my love for this franchise. Both games were great and gave me really a lot of joy. Sadly time pass and it wasn't to generous with this games. Don't understand me wrong they are still really great games but slowly they became forgotten by most of the old players and new generation very often didn't even heard that games like that exist.
November 2010At that time there was no information about any official re-release, remake, remastered version. Little Big Adventure 3 was just legend which existed for years and most even then a lot of people stop believing in it. Because of that I decided to make remake of first game. First attempts were pretty rough but I was and still am proud of them anyway. They are fundament for project you can watch now.

Official remastered version and concernsMy goal in this project were never money. I never claimed that I have any rights to characters, gameplay, universe or anything like that. I really respect all rights of original authors and owners of franchise. That is why when there were released first information about re-releasing Little Big Adventure 1 and 2 on gog.com and official remake I started to be a little bit concern about project. I decide to wrote to Frédérick Raynal with question about approval of what I do. Game from the start was planned as remaking of whole game but just of one maybe two first islands.
In meantime of waiting for answer I decided to temporary stop development. But answer came:
" Don't worry you can continue your work. "This was great news thanks to which I could resume work without any worries.
Five years later (Year 2015)
Five years passed from begin of development. Some may say that this is long time but also a lot happened in it. We already had few nice development videos showing how game changed. Gameplay slowly but steady is moving forward. Engine transformed a lot to follow my ambitious plans. There was almost nothing to complain. But ...
Generally I don't think about myself as sane person. If I was one I wouldn't probably do this project :] But well crazy people do crazy stuff and I decided to do one of it again. Around June 2015 I decided to reset project. This time with a lot more changes comparing to original game.
This was big change but after it came another.
Never really alone
For long time I claimed that I do project alone. But it's never was exactly like that. I always were supported by a lot of people. Some of theme were giving me advice other listened to my boring stories what I will not to do in project. Other were just there to go for drink when I needed some break. There were also people who shared some of their time to do texture or art for me.
But end of year 2015 brought Alejandro Machado who joined team. This was great time. Restarted game still didn't had well developed art direction. I thought a lot about story, gameplay, locations and mechanics of game. But art was always there waiting. Alejandro filled this gap and I really need to say that he done it in great style. We still working out a lot of details related to our cooperation but there are already visible effects.
What next ?
This is interesting part and to say truth I don't know :D I stopped worrying about this part and started using energy I spend on it for development of game. Some people believe in miracles I like to create my own miracles with my own power.
- When we will release finished game ?
- Why we don't gave access to game it will be freeware anyway ?
- Why you don't want my money ? There were ideas from fans to create Kickstarter campaign or gather donations. Personally I don't think that this would be fair with owners of original game rights. And because of that we don't plan any movement in this direction.
- Are you doing any remastering of the original LBA soundtrack by Phil Vachey? No we don't. Original soundtrack is great but like game it's under copyrights law. In case of game we got permission in case of music we didn't asked.
From good news: Jesse Gorter have plans to create alternative soundtrack for Little Big Adventure. It may end as part of this remake but we will see what he will decide.
- Who creating game ?
- Alejandro Machado - Concept Art, Design, Story
- Jesse Gother - Music
- Greg Wojciechowski ( This is me :D ) - Programming, modeling, level design, texturing, sounds, design, story, PR, community manager and probably few other things. Sorry there is a lot of that
- What technology we use?
- What tools we use to create game ?
- Will we share editor with game ?
